with the >debut remix album< alfred heinrichs scored on subdub in all charts through the ceiling. now he puts on mimique the >all about me e.p.< after 2 great songs in the distinctive style of heinrich. as known from alfred, fits his sound is not in a drawer. the galloping bass, the hot breaks and vocal snippets push the two songs at the heart of heinrichs night. rounding out the e.p. is the philip bader remix of >all about me<. this comes with a brash, cocky driving house beat around the corner.

12inch full of music with a definite sense of place. eerie synthesiser pulses, funk-infused drums and languid guitar-scapes have been part of the musical topology of düsseldorf since the early seventies: and this particular release pays full tribute to that legacy, with jagd auf den hirsch (hunt for the stag) comprising an eerie piece of swampy lazer-forest rock. this sound is also a modern day staple of düsseldorfs nightlife at the salon des amateurs, a small bar attached to the kunsthalle art gallery that is an oasis of hypnotic disco nightmares. the salon is where der räuber und der prinz made their first live appearance in 2008 (when the original composition for moogwalzer was debuted), and both members of the band frequently play there: ralf beck with his bodyrocking club act unit 4 and sebastian as half of art-rock duo noblesse oblige. meanwhile two of the guests on this release - detlef weinrich also known as toulouse lowtrax, contributing words about a ghostly maiden on moogwalzer, and thomas klein contributing drums to jagd auf den hirsch - are both original members of the quintessential düsseldorf act kreidler. salon dj resident vladimir ivkovic also had a hand in the creative clarion call for the jagd auf den hirsch (hunt for the stag). to complete the circle, düsseldorfs new resident and desolat mainstay guti wrote his remix in the middle of the night in buenos aires, as a kind of letter to his new home-to-be. there we have it: a true tribute to a city we love, with tracks for the dancefloor as well as moments of melancholic contemplation.

detroit is the first single from double night time, the upcoming album from morgan geist and his first solo artist album in over a decade. it features two epic, gorgeous remixes from grammy-nominated remixer carl craig and features vocals from jeremy greenspan of junior boys. after turning the dance music world on its head with his metro area project (alongside collaborator darshan jesrani) and mining rare disco gems with the seminal obscure disco dj mix unclassics (2004), geist decided it was time to turn his attention to a solo album. detroit is the lead song from the album and (as careful listeners may discern) is based loosely on 24k

ninja tune records have kindly allowed aus music to release some of sideshows deep, intensely dubbed-out interpretations of the latest fink album sort of revolution, the critically acclaimed international singer-songwriters third album for the legendary stable. on the vinyl we have the two sideshow rubs of the albums lead singles. sort of dubolution (a dub of the albums title track), comes as a classic sideshow live dub epic, drenched in fink?s signature vocals alongside an earth-moving bass line. follower dub it all (an edit of finkssee it all) is a stabbier, angular take on the original reminiscent of scubas recent late-night masterpieces.

g.i.disco - an 80s history of cold war s hottest music in west-germany berlin local dj heroes kalle kuts and daniel w. best a.k.a. g.i.disco have compiled an excellent 80s soul, funk, r & b and disco selection. it combines representative music of that time with informative liner notes about the german historical background (which also is an important part of 20th century s world history), international artist quotes and worldwide renowned art by berlin based photographer frank thiel to an unique history lesson and listening experience. soul, funk and r&b from the us became a worldwide dance and clubbing movement during the 70s when it turned disco. in the late 70s and 80s more and more new electronic instruments like synthesizers and drum machines were added to the horn riffs and piano licks, bringing the funk back on the dance floor while still leaving it s soul untouched. although a global success story, it played an interesting role especially in the german experience. lp comes in gatefold sleeve.
